Pendant la Premi\u00e8re Guerre Mondiale, sa famille d\u00e9m\u00e9nage d&#8217;abord \u00e0 Vienne et ensuite en Palestine; apr\u00e8s l&#8217;adolescence, Shulim rejoins \u00e0 Florence son fr\u00e9re Mordekhai, qui se trouve l\u00e0-bas en tant que professeur au Coll\u00e8ge Rabbinique.<br \/>\nEn Italie, Shulim trouve un travail chez la Typographie Giuntina, dont le propri\u00e9taire est le juif polonais Leo Samuel Olschki. En 1928, il devient le directeur de la typographie. Il \u00e9pouse Anna Disegni, fille du Rabbin-Chef de Turin Dario Disegni; en 1935 ils accueillent leur fille a\u00een\u00e9e, Sissel.<br \/>\n\u00c0 cause des lois raciales de 1938, Anna est oblig\u00e9e de quitter l&#8217;einsegnement et la petite Sissel ne pourra pas fr\u00e9quenter l&#8217;\u00e9cole. Apr\u00e8s le 8 septembre 1943, la famille cherche abri en Suisse, mais ils sont captur\u00e9s et arr\u00eat\u00e9s: c&#8217;est le 20 d\u00e9cembre 1943.<br \/>\nIls sont renferm\u00e9s \u00e0 San Vittore, d&#8217;o\u00f9 ils sont faits sortir le matin du 30 janvier 1944 pour \u00eatre d\u00e9port\u00e9s de la Gare Centrale de Milan en direction d&#8217;Auschwitz. \u00c0 l&#8217;arriv\u00e9e, Schulim est separ\u00e9 de Anna e Sissel, qui sont imm\u00e9diatement tu\u00e9es.<br \/>\nShulim survit gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son m\u00e9tier de typographe. Rentr\u00e9 \u00e0 Florence, il se consacre entierement \u00e0 la typographie Giuntina.
